Urmila belongs to South India but started her film career with Bengali film Chetna. That film was a success and she followed it by acting in many Benagali films.
Later she moved to Bollywood and acted in Hindi film Rafta Rafta - The Speed. In this film she was paired with Samir Dharmadhikari.
Now she has joined Bhojpuri Cinema too with her debut in Bidai.
Urmila says that her husband G.Chandrashekhar Rao always encourage her to do better in films. She thinks acting is a God gifted skill to her.
She loved acting in the Bhojpuri Film Bidai and now can speak Bhojpuri too. She has a lot of praise for the director of the film Aslam Sheikh. She accepts that she learned a lot from him.
Urmila hopes that Bidai will prove to be a milestone film for her.
