Years ago a baby was born in the household of a Pujari family of Pandit Shyam Narain Shukla on 17th July. That baby is now the king of Bhojpuri Cinema as well as emerging as the uncrowned king of entertainment in Hindi Cinema and TV serials too. Ravi Kishan Shukla, popularly known as Ravi Kishan, has been called as Mahanayak by none else than the cult figureof Hindi Cinema Amitabh Bachchan. He has been awarded as the best Bhojpuri Actor time and again. In June 2008 he was awarded the Most Popular Actor at ETV Bhojpuri Cinema Samman 2008 function. Recently he has been declared Best Actor in regional film category by Journalist Association of India in a function held at Delhi where the award was given to Ravi Shukla by Shila Dixit, Chief Minister of Delhi.
This versatile actor has proved his talent of versatile acting in Bhojpuri as well as several Hindi films. Now he has proved his worthyness in anchoring too. Famous reality show Big Boss was made popular by his presence and now Ek se badhkar Ek is showing his charm where Ravi Kishan is the anchor.
But Ravi was not made a Super Star overnight. He had to undergo a struggle in his early days when he arrived in Mumbai and presented himself to various directors and producers all in vain. Those were the days when Bollywood was in the grip of Star Sons. No body took notice of a simpleton young boy of Jaunpur who has no family history of filmi career.
Ravi still remembers the midnight when he visited the Bandra residence of Grand patriarch of Bhojpuri Cinema MohanJi Prasad. Brajesh Tripathi has taken him there. That very night the seed of the grand revival of Bhojpuri Film Industry was planted when Ravi Kishan was offered lead role in Sainya Hamaar. Everything thereafter is history. Bhojpuri Cinema is now a 100 crore industry giving livelihood to nearly forty thousand people directly or indirectly. Bhojpuri Films are crating a rush on the Box Office where Hindi Films are facing one flop after another.
Ravi Kishan has started his own company Mahadev Production which plans to produce good Bhojpuri Films. First film of the company, Bihari Mafia has completed its shooting schedules is now on the editing table.
Ravi Kishan is going to South Africa for a two months shooting schedule of Luck which is being shot on foreign locations.
We wish him all the success.
